Our Story
Originally named ‘Shabby chic on the Terrace‘, TC started back in around 2015/2016 with some volunteering at a charity called Habitat for Humanity.
They used to up-cycle furniture under the watchful educated eye of Marilyn Boe a former interior designer. Myself and Ciano enjoyed painting and sanding furniture that had been donated and selling that to customers.
Ciano had a brilliant talent for creating a vintage distressed look, making a piece of furniture resemble something from the 1700-1800s in Paris. That was the first introduction to refurbishing furniture and the shabby chic style.
From there it was on to up-cycling furniture in the home garage and selling that at the Cromwell markets every Sunday, with many in the family chipping in to setup the stall, unloading trailer loads of furniture.
It’s been about 10 years since those days and hundreds of pieces of furniture produced and sent off around the South Island.
